Staff

We have a wonderful team of paid staff, sessional youth workers and volunteers. Those listed here are just the core team of Winchester YMCA.

I love working for the YMCA! It’s a fantastic worldwide organisation, without a fixed model imposed from above. You’d be surprised by the variety of work; supporting refugees in Palestine; running one of the best hotels in Hong Kong; providing quality youth work all over the UK and sports centres across the United States. That’s just a sample! If I ever retire I’d live near a beach in Devon and write a novel.

I started work with Winchester YMCA in February 2009. My role involves overseeing the consultation process and the development of the programmes related to our new Youth Café. I am married to Sarah and we attend one of the local Churches. My main interests are football, current affairs and my unhealthy obsession with Sky News.

I’ve been working for the YMCA since 2004 as a Youth and Children’s worker. I love the challenge and fun that my job brings working with 5 – 18 year olds in a variety of settings. I am proud to be the undefeated crazy golf champion amongst the Winchester YMCA staff!

I’ve been married to Tim for 3 years, where our love for pick n mix sweets was evident at our ”sweetie” themed wedding! Tim and I are members of St. Mary’s Church, Kings Worthy.

I have been told that the reason I do youth work is because I have not grown up yet, but the real reason is because working with young people is an amazing job, especially when you see how a person can grow and develop. Knowing that you have walked that journey with them is a privilege and honour.

One of my talents is mixing the music up behind the decks. Known as ”Mad Sam” for many years I still DJ for many events including YMCA Disco’s.

I have worked for the Winchester YMCA for two years, largely coordinating ”extended schools” , but also covering YMCA administration. I love chocolate and mushrooms (’though not together) and the buzz of working somewhere where no two days are ever quite the same. Oh...and my colleagues are highly entertaining to be with as well.

Working for the YMCA is a real adventure! No two days are ever the same, and being involved in the development of the Youth café has been really exciting. When I’m not throwing myself into my job I can be found outside in the New Forest riding my horse. He’s getting on a bit now so it’s more of a trot than a canter, but he helps me to get over the stresses and strains of the day! The other and probably biggest passion in my life is my son, I am unashamed to admit to being the biggest and most besotted fan of Henry, he is just over a year old and absolutely gorgeous, he loves horses too!

Hi I'm Anna and I have lived in Winchester for about 2 years- and love it! I am new to the 'Y' and my role mostly involves me working through our new Youth Cafe, re:fresh. I will also be doing 1-2-1 mentoring at some of the secondary schools in Winchester as well as working on the More than Schools initiative... all of which should keep me busy! I live just outside Winchester and love the great outdoors- biking, running, walking, just about anything in any weather. I am also a big fan of curry, The Simpsons, chocolate digestives, UNO and trashy TV. Preferably all at the same time. If you're passing the re:fresh Youth Cafe at St John's House, pop in and say hello!

I started working for the Winchester YMCA as a volunteer in 2009. Now that I’m lucky enough to work here, I love that the organization’s work is varied and creative. Most of all it’s important for young people in the area. It’s also fantastic to work with such a friendly and hard-working team! My interests are travelling, languages and cheesy detective shows
